Merkl-Gump Campaign Announces Recommendation from Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA)
(Perkasie, PA) — Bradley Merkl-Gump today announced that he has been recommended by the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA), one of the Commonwealth’s leading advocates for public education, in his campaign for the Democratic nomination in the 16th Senate District.
The recommendation underscores Merkl-Gump’s deep roots in education and his commitment to ensuring every student in Pennsylvania’s 16th Senate District has access to a high-quality public education.
A public school teacher, father of school-aged children and elected school board member, Merkl-Gump has firsthand experience navigating the challenges facing students, educators, and families across the region.
“Public education is the foundation of opportunity in our communities,” said Merkl-Gump. “As a teacher, I see every day how funding gaps, staffing shortages, and rising costs impact our classrooms and affect our kids. We need leaders in Harrisburg who understand these challenges firsthand and are ready to fight for the resources our schools and students deserve.”
“At this critical moment for public education, we need educators at the table where decisions are made. That’s why we’re proud to support Bradley Merkl-Gump for State Senate in the 16th District,” said PSEA President Aaron Chapin. “As a fellow educator, a PSEA member, and a school board director, Bradley brings the experience and commitment our schools and communities need—and he’ll be a powerful voice for public education in Harrisburg.”
The recommendation comes at a critical time for school districts in SD-16, where educators and administrators are working to address funding inequities, classroom staffing needs, and the increasing demands placed on public schools.
Merkl-Gump has made strengthening public education a central pillar of his campaign, including advocating for fair funding, opposing efforts to divert resources away from public schools, and supporting policies that attract and retain qualified educators.
The PSEA recommendation adds to a growing coalition of support for Merkl-Gump’s campaign as it continues to build momentum in one of the most competitive and consequential races in the state.
