Merkl-Gump Announces Endorsement from Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Leadership in SD 16 Primary

Perkasie, PA — The campaign for State Senate candidate Bradley Merkl-Gump today announced a major show of support from top Pennsylvania Senate Democratic leaders, further solidifying momentum in the race for Senate District 16.

Merkl-Gump has earned the endorsement of Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa, Senate Democratic Campaign Committee Chair Vincent Hughes, Policy Chair Nick Miller, Caucus Chair Maria Collett, and Caucus Secretary and Bucks County Democratic Committee Chair Steve Santarsiero.

The endorsements signal strong confidence from caucus leadership in Merkl-Gump’s ability to win a critical seat and help deliver a Democratic majority in Harrisburg.

“Bradley is focused on the issues that matter to voters statewide and I’ve been impressed by his ability to represent a swing region like Pennridge thoughtfully; we need another voice like that in the Senate,” said Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa.

“Flipping seats isn’t easy, but Bradley understands clearly what it takes from his win in a deep red school district. He has what it takes to flip this seat in November,” said SDCC Chair Vincent Hughes.

Merkl-Gump, a public school teacher and local school board member, has built his campaign around lowering costs for working families, strengthening public education, and delivering results for the Lehigh Valley.

“I’m honored by the support I’ve received for this run. The leaders endorsing me today have been the strongest advocates for working families in the State Capitol and I’m eager to add my voice to that chorus,” said Merkl-Gump

Senate District 16 is widely viewed as one of the most competitive and consequential races in the state, with the outcome likely to play a key role in determining the balance of power in the Pennsylvania Senate.

With growing grassroots support and now the backing of Senate Democratic leadership, Merkl-Gump’s campaign continues to build momentum heading into the primary election.
